Who am I?

I'm a physicist who loves giraffes (in general), Newfoundlands (one in particular), and parenthetical statements. I grew up in Eastern Washington (state), went to college in Southern California, studied abroad in Paris, went to grad school in upstate New York, and am now teaching in Wisconsin.

What's New?

May 4, 2011--I will be joining the College of Wooster's physics department as a visiting assistant professor in the fall! I'll be teaching Physics Revolutions, Mechanics, and labs.

March 17, 2011--I will be presenting Mie Scattering of High Numerical Aperture Fields as a poster at ICO-22 this coming August in Puebla, Mexico.

November 15, 2010--The paper "Two methods for modeling the propagation and coherence of nonparaxial fields" appears in this issue of Optics Communications. Check it out: Electromagnetic Coherence and Polarization

November 12-14, 2010--I accompanied a colleague and two physics majors to the Mid-States Consortium for Math and Science 2010 Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science. The presentations were great and it was wonderful meeting the students and faculty from other colleges in the consortium.
